The great University that is Shivaji University was come into existence of 1962. Shivaji University situated in Kolhapur in Maharashtra. The University name was based, the name of the empire Chhatrapati Shivaji who was the founder of the Maratha. This University inaugurate by the great leader Sarvepalli Radhakrishnan on 18 November, 1962, that time he was the President of India.
The main Aim of this University was that, to fawn on, the regional needs of South Maharashtra. This provides regular courses for B. Tech and M. Tech Programs. There are different fields for courses .Computer science and Technology, Environmental Science and Technology, Electronic Technology, Energy Technology these all are for Masters of Technology. And for Bachelor of Technology, courses are Civil Engineering, Computer Science & Technology, Electronics and Communication Technology, Food technology, Chemical Technology.
